Open Door

If you have been on this journey with us since the get-go you will have noticed the change in our blog title; what once said, "Ethiopian" now reads: "Ugandan". Let me explain...

We haven't had much to report since our benefit concert last June, 2012. Andrew and I were beginning to come to terms with the fact that starting paper work and a home study was going to be years off yet. Our three biological children are close in age and we were hoping Ivy and our adopted child would be as well. However, the agency we had considered working with estimates it will take three years from the start of the application process to the time of adoption. We didn't like it much, but we knew adoption wasn't in our near future. We think we have it all figured out but then God steps in and reminds us that He is in charge and calls the shots.

Andrew's sister is temporarily living in Nashville. While staying at a friends' home, a visitor stopped in and told a story of a husband and wife in Uganda. This particular couple have started a ministry for children in Kampala. Amy (Andrew's sister) mentioned to this friend that Andrew and I would like to adopt and have been in the fundraising process for five years. The next thing we knew, we were on the phone to this friend of a friend of Amy's, discussing the possibility of adopting a baby!

After many prayers and discussions, questions being answered and simply time, Andrew and I made the decision to move forward. We spoke with Janna (the woman in charge of getting the ball rolling so-to-speak) and the next step is a home study followed by loads of paper work.

This sweet pea will be turning one on December, 31st 2012. Ivy and she will be one year apart!

This is actually happening family and friends; finally, our time has come to walk through the orphanage door! We are so incredibly thankful to all of you who have been apart of this journey with us from day one and we look forward to sharing more with you as we continue down this path!
